£60,000 piano arrives for West Somerset village music festival
An historic church had an expensive arrival ahead of a concert featuring an internationally-acclaimed musician.
The top-of-the-range Steinway Concert Grand Piano was delivered on FridayAUGUST23 to St Mary's Church in Stogumber, West Somerset prior to the village's four-day music festival starting next week.
The £60,000 piano is one of relatively few concert-quality grand pianos in the South West.
It will be played by the internationally-acclaimed Czech pianist Lada Valešová at the festival's opening performance.

Lance Moir, festival chairman, said: "When we started planning for Stogumber Festival, we knew we wanted to attract top-class international and UK artists to perform.
"For leading classical concert pianists such as Lada, it is essential to have the very best equipment with which to work and we are indebted to the Dorset Musical Instruments Trust for providing us with this 7' 6" Steinway 'C'.
"It will not only be played at the opening concert but also when Lada accompanies the Royal Opera House's Australian soprano, Anita Watson two nights later."
The festival will also include performances by a range of different artists including award-winning Irish folk singer Cara Dillon, swinging saxophone jazz octet Reed Rage! and organist William Whitehead.
