THE ARGYLE DEBATE - How good a job has manager John Sheridan done so far?

“I cant really see any need for this debate,I suppose its just a way of the sports team on the Herald justifying thier presence.Its the same as these player interviews just column fillers and as for the ridiculous Dannis Salmon contribution well !!!!
At the moment John Sheridan is getting the desired results and long may that continue,and whether he was your choice or not does not really matter as I assume all on here want to see the Greens survive and progress next season so please HERALD drop this ridiculous weekly debate and try encouraging all supporters to get firmly behind the manager and the team.
Eddie and Wilf nothing can be gained by dragging up the past what happened with the old board is now history and is we will saddly never get to the truth,best we all look to the future and try to ensure it never happens again.Time to close the book and move on.”

“Eddie - I guess the problem is that even now the ordinary Argyle fan can get little info on where the £17 million went so what chance would anyone have had getting such info before the event when rumours were rife but facts thin on the ground.”

Golden opportunities have arisen for the Herald journalists to do some real investigative work, to expose the frailties of the old Argyle board, the power struggles within, the obtuse financial dealings that brought our beloved club to it's knees and flirting with near oblivion.

It doesn't take much of an imagination,for the Herald, to see where a plethora of articles to publish could have come from. I am also sure that the fans would have been more interested in an exposure as to how our demise came about.

What we should be doing is supporting and cheering on the manager, team and club.

“The big question is why CF was not fired weeks earlier to give the new manager a fighting chance of saving us. I have some sympathy with the paper in that when you have done the last match to death you either have the option of printing a smaller paper with no news of Argyle or of putting in stuff which does not obviously grab the imagination!”

“It's better to be lucky than good! And that has to be said of John Sheridan's reign so far. Two wins, two draws, two clean sheets, all very positive for a team in a relegation scrap, but on the other hand we still seem remarkably lightweight upfront and it is still a worry about where the goals will come from. I would like to see him bring in a proven goalscorer at this level before he has to fall back on Chadwick and Feeney, who have proved conclusively that _they _don't score at this level. There are out of contract goalscorers out there and we could bring them in straight away, but we would be more limited on loan signings as we can only have five in our matchday squad. I don't think the football is any more attractive but we look a bit more solid, and at this stage frankly who cares, we just need enough points to stay up and then he can rip it up and start again next season...if he stays. I think he only has a contract until the end of the season. He wasn't my choice for the job but he's delivered the goods so far so good luck to him. Now we have Aldershot and Accrington below us as well as Barnet and Wimbledon I'm more optimistic we _could stay up.”

Personally I think it's a question of who you know in football. Fletcher knew very few people in football management due to this being his first job, I know Eddie Howe at Bournmouth then Burnley helped him a couple of times at least with McDonald and Steve Fletcher

Whereas Sheridan has been around a bit longer and obviously has many more contacts in the world of football

That's my opinion anyway, don't think he's been given anymore money but using the loan market to his advantage”

“Does seem a strange question. Obviously the vast majority of Argyle fans will be delighted with 8 from 12, would we have been asked had it been 0 from 12?

Nothing against Sheridan here but I'd be more interested to know why Fletch had to shop in the LoW and the Conference South or whatever it's called for players last summer whereas Shezza has been able to sign players of professional League standard. It was hinted Fletch couldn't even afford to play some of his loanees hence they remained on the bench. It would appear extra money has been found despite supposed losses this season. We know Purse was probably the highest paid but he must've been on an absolute fortune?”
