Acclaimed seafood venue is up for sale
An award-winning young entrepreneur is putting his landmark seafood restaurant up for sale, after a decade at the helm.
The Oyster Shack in Bigbury has been put on the market for £750,000, as proprietor Chris Yandell looks to embark upon ventures new.
Mr Yandell, who was jointly named Young Businessperson of the Year at the inaugural Western Morning News Business Awards in 2011, acquired the beachside eaterie at the age of 23.
He expanded the business from a small, family-run concern serving between 10 and 30 customers over a lunchtime into a trendy Mediterranean-style venue with a year-round clientele.

Employing up to 40 staff in peak season, The Oyster Shack accommodates 65 diners indoors and a further 90 covers al fresco and has achieved a Trip Advisor certificate of excellence, a Michelin recommendation, and a Good Food Guide 2011 recommendation.
Mr Yandell has introduced several innovative schemes, including a "pay what you think it's worth" initiative, as well as developing a budget menu, hampers and barbecue packs, and a wine festival.
He said that he is now looking into a new business venture – outside of the restaurant industry, but is unable to disclose further details at this stage. In the meantime, he said, his focus will continue to be upon the Oyster Shack until he secures a buyer for the business, saying: "It's important to put it in the right hands."
Matthew Smith, director at Exeter-based Christies, is marketing the business and said: "This represents a great opportunity for another operator to further develop the business."
