MORRISONS in Bideford is one of only 60 of the firm's supermarkets in the country to be given a fresh new look which has created 12 new jobs in the process.

Morrisons Bideford is now a "store of the future". Nearly £2 million has been spent rejuvenating it.

The Bideford store now has more than 450 lines of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as a new flower department and bigger range of meat, fish and bread.

Specialist trainers have been brought into the store to give extra training to the store's 320 workers to ensure they can give customers the best advice.

The store's manger Colin Rudlof said one of his favourite parts of the new store is the fruit and vegetable section.

All the produce is kept as fresh as possible with a cooling vapour while being kept on a bed of ice.

Mr Rudlof said: "It is just something very different and we have recipe cards to help customers know how to use the more unusual products.

"We also now have all our sausages made in store and we have a bigger range of continental meats.

"We also now stock children's clothes."
