Accountant honoured by HMRC
Accountant Paul Aplin has received a national award for helping HM Revenue & Customs improve the UK tax system. He received one of four 2012 HMRC External Engagement Awards presented by Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, David Gauke.
Mr Aplin is tax partner at Taunton-based A. C. Mole & Sons and also chairman of the tax faculty technical committee at the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He said: "My mission is to help those in Whitehall see things through the eyes of Westcountry businesses. We have the opportunity to improve the tax system, if we articulate what is wrong with it to those who have the political power to change things."
