A TEENAGER charged with causing death by dangerous driving has appeared at North Devon Magistrates' Court.

Adam Garthwaite, 19, of Stone Leigh, Hele Lane, Frithelstockstone, Torrington, appeared at the court on Friday, accused of causing the death of 38-year-old Paul Garcia, from Launceston, in March this year.

Garthwaite was arrested after a head-on collision between his Vauxhall Astra and Mr Garcia's Peugeot 106 on March 1 on the A388 near St Giles-in-the-Heath.

Garthwaite, who is also charged with a separate incident of dangerous driving on the same day, entered no plea to the charges and will face a hearing at Crown Court in Exeter.
