Administrator seeks buyers for stores
Buyers are sought for the remaining viable parts of a Westcountry chain of butchers that collapsed into administration last week with the loss of around 36 jobs
Minehead-based Gerald David and Family Ltd entered administration last week, resulting in the closure of five shops and its abattoir in Porlock.
David Kirk, of Exeter-based insolvency practitioner Kirks, was appointed as administrator. He has kept the business's outlets at Cheddar, Topsham and Newton Abbot open, while a buyer is sought via property agent Edward Symmons.
Mr Kirk said: "I am trading them with a view to selling them and at least saving part of the business.
"I hope that we can achieve a going concern sale in the next two weeks. That is also the best chance of retaining the 14 staff kept on."
