Agent adds support to town's artistic work
SUCCESSFUL sponsorship of Ilfracombe's first Ilfra-Expo art event enabled estate agent John Smale & Co to contribute to the town's artistic community.
Between July 14 and August 4, a diverse array of artwork was displayed in vacant shops, public spaces, museums, heritage sites and other places with local prominence.
Ilfra-Expo also provided a series of guided tours and artist talks about the work on show, creating a trail of discovery.
Erin Rickard, Ilfra-Expo organiser, said: "Their contribution made it possible to create a high-quality, professional, public artwork for Ilfracombe which will last for years to come.

"The sponsored artworks are by Hannah Davies and Lianne Harrison and directly respond to their research and time spent at Ilfracombe Museum and harbour."
TWO-BEDROOM properties are now the popular choice for homebuyers, reports regional property developer Devonshire Homes.
"More than ever, property developers need to adapt their plans to survive," said Devonshire Homes' land and planning director Steve Russell, based in Tiverton.
"Where apartments and three-storey townhouses were once in demand, the current austere environment has encouraged the choice of more safe, standard options like two-bedroom properties.
"It is this flexibility in responding to the market needs that has enabled Devonshire Homes to weather the economic storm and stand firm as we press ahead in meeting the region's housing demand."
He added that planning permission granted five years ago will more than likely need to be adjusted to reflect the demands of the present property market.
He said: "While I am positive about the market moving forward, we are not returning to the property heydays pre-2008 but to a new market with a fresh set of funding constraints."
