Air crew celebrates 5,000th callout
THE second Devon Air Ambulance celebrated its 5,000th mission on bank holiday Sunday.
One of the 18 incidents attended on that day was to a pedestrian who was knocked unconscious on the Teignmouth to Bishopsteignton road.

The victim was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
The 5,000th mission came just as the trust celebrates 20 years since its first airlift, with almost 18,000 missions by the two helicopters in total to date.

Devon Air Ambulance Trust started in 1992 with one helicopter, operating only when funds were available. in 2005, the service was extended to two helicopters.
On Saturday the ambulance trust is hosting a birthday party at Darts Farm, Topsham, to celebrate this 5,000th mission and 20 years of service.
