Alcoholic Plymouth paedophile had nearly 4,000 images of children
A PERVERT was caught with nearly 4,000 indecent images of children – including some of the most depraved kind, a court heard.
A judge told 52-year-old alcoholic William Chinn that searching out pornography on the internet fuelled the abuse of children.

But Chinn avoided going to jail immediately after Plymouth Crown Court was told he wanted to tackle his paedophilia.
Chinn, of St Levan Road, Keyham, admitted 11 counts of possession of indecent images of children. David Gittins, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said police raided Chinn's home and seized two computers on April 30 last year. He added experts found 3,914 indecent images, graded from one to five, with five being the most serious. The court heard he had 3,246 stills and movies at Level 1, 23 at Level 2, 249 at Level 3, 376 at Level 4 and 20 at Level 5.

Deni Matthews, for Chinn, said he quickly confessed his crimes to the police as well as friends and family.
Mr Matthews said Chinn was an alcoholic who had started drinking aged 11. He added that he used to drink 16 pints a day, but with the help of a counsellor had reduced that to 10 pints.
Recorder Paul Derbyshire sentenced him to eight months in prison, but suspended the term for two years. Chinn will be under the supervision of probation and must complete a treatment programme for internet sex offenders.
He must sign the Sex Offender Register for a decade and was given a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order, banning him from having unsupervised contact with children.
