'Aliens' and UFO spotted at mystical heartland
It is perhaps understandable that a location synonymous with superstition and dripping with mystical charm has regularly been noted for its eerie goings-on.
And while extra-terrestrial activity in and around Glastonbury remains unconfirmed, police have at least assured the Somerset community’s place among Britain’s UFO-prone elite.
Official figures show that, in the past five years, 27 phone calls were made to police detailing UFO sightings.
Avon and Somerset Police released details of the bizarre calls they have received about UFO and alien sightings near Glastonbury and Street following a freedom of information request.

Most involved general sightings of UFOs and aliens, and “alien possessions”, while one disgruntled caller blamed the Government for flying saucers in Glastonbury – where twilight skies over the Somerset community are seasonally twinkled with a glut of foreign objects, as festival revellers send Chinese lanterns into orbit from the site during the summer.
Other calls were more specific in their nature, however, including a complaint by a member of the public in August that they were “stuck in a hospital with aliens and Charlie Kray”.
In April 2010, a caller described how UFOs had taken over their sitting room, which had inspired their dog to draw pictures on the windows. The caller went on to say that saints were looking through the window and hoped to pass messages from our intergalactic neighbours.
The force suggested that some of the calls may not be genuine, but added that they highlighted the difficult nature of the work undertaken by staff on a daily basis.
“Our call-handlers never know what the next call will involve and are trained to deal with a variety of incidents
in a calm and professional manner,” said Chief Inspector Kevan Rowlands.
