ARGYLE LADIES progressed to the first round proper with a deserved victory over their Combination League rivals Keynsham Development.

On a heavy pitch it was difficult for the Pilgrims to play their normal passing style.

Midfielder Steph Beck made it 2-0 on 26 minutes following slack Keynsham defensive work left her unmarked eight yards out.

Keynsham pulled a goal back five minutes before half-time when they beat the advancing Argyle keeper to the ball at the edge of the box following a neat through ball.

Katie Middleton restored the two-goal cushion with a long diagonal free-kick that evaded everyone including the keeper.

The visitors clawed another goal back on 70 minutes when a cross-cum-shot looped over the head of Michaela Phillips in the home goal.

Leading Argyle scorer Emily Mousley completed the scoring 10 minutes from time when a Daisy Self pass found her in a good position to finish.

Perrett almost increased the lead with the last kick of the match but her effort thumped against the post.

WESTWARD DEVELOPMENTS DEVON WOMEN'S LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISIONAFC Plympton...9 Feniton...0

AFC PLYMPTON continued their prolific form by finding the net nine times against Feniton.

Samantha Metters opened the scoring on three minutes but AFC had to wait a further 30 for their second.

Again it was Metters who found the net after good work from strike partner Chelsea Robinson.

The second half started with a flourish of goals, with Metters completing her hat-trick within a minute of the restart. Feniton kept going but could not stop Plympton, who were now in total control and clinical in front of goal.

Chez Phillips added a fourth before Metters scored her fourth and fifth and Robinson registered a double.

Danii Moody goal completed the scoring.

Activate...4 Exeter Uni...6

UNIVERSITY of Exeter won their first game of the season when they came out on top in a high scoring match at Activate.

Ruby Lester notched a hat-trick, with Wendy Wise scoring one, but it was not enough as Frankie Deane hit the net four times and Kathryn Aylward and Connie Williams-Stanley scored one apiece as Uni prevailed.

“Well played Argyle Ladies. As I no longer live in Plymouth, I shall look for matches further north if possible in order to support you.”
