Argyle Ladies ready for big cup clash against Magpies
PLYMOUTH Argyle Ladies are looking forward to flying the flag for the city with a prestigious tie away to Newcastle United in the third round of the FA Women's Cup next month.
The young Pilgrims go up against the Premier League outfit on Sunday, February 3 at Northumbria University.
The trip to the North East will be Argyle's third successive away tie in the competition in which they are bidding to equal their best-finish to date of reaching the fourth round.
Argyle's previous encounters in this year's FA Women's Cup resulted in a 3-2 victory away to Forest Green Rovers on December 9 followed by a 2-0 win at Larkhall Athletic in the second round on January 6.

Emily Mousley (right) and Sarah Stacey were Argyle's goalscorers at previously undefeated Larkhall, while Daisy Self, Rebekah Rose and an own goal accounted for Gloucestershire's Forest Green.
Manager Kevin Rose's South West Combination League squad will go into the match with the Geordies as more than slight underdogs, which won't worry them one bit.
Rose said winning the opportunity to play against the likes of Newcastle on a national stage with a 'very young squad of players' is an achievement in itself.
He also thanked the tie up with Plymouth Argyle's Football in the Community Department and the Green Taverners for their 'generous help financially', which has eased the burden on the club's limited savings.
Rose said: "Although it's a very long trip, we're really looking forward to playing at Newcastle.
"It would certainly be an expensive business in the cup, if it wasn't for help from Mark Lovell at Argyle's Football in the Community and also the Green Taverners, who have been extremely helpful.
"Being under the umbrella of the Argyle Community department again this year gives us a great tie in with Home Park.
"It would have been nice to be at home, but we've managed to secure the Argyle first-team players' coach to travel there and back in, which makes life a lot easier for all involved.
"Our side, compared to most of our rivals, is extremely young, with the average age around 20.
"But what they may lack in experience, they more than make up in talent and commitment and they will not let anyone down in Plymouth, that's for certain."
The ladies play their home matches at Weston Mill Oak Villa and boast a 26-strong squad. But Rose said despite the support of Argyle, the FA and the Green Taverners, the team will always be grateful for sponsorship.
