Army camp plan goes to appeal
AN APPEAL against the decision to refuse planning permission for 277 homes on the former Fremington Army Camp site has been lodged by the developers.
North Devon Council's planning committee refused the application in December because of fears the proposed access to the site posed safety issues.
A group of Fremington residents campaigned against the plan on such grounds throughout the planning process.
But the decision will now go to the planning inspectorate after developers Fremington Developments LLP lodged an appeal against the decision.

They believe the plans were fully compliant with the government's Manual for Streets and should not have been refused.
The appeal is likely to be concluded at the start of April.
District councillor for Fremington, Frank Biederman, said he had been expecting the appeal.
"I'm sure there will be lots of expensive barristers making legal arguments," he said.
"But when it comes down to it when you stand in that road it's obvious it's not safe.
"I just hope common sense prevails."
