Police are investigating the attempted robbery of a 14-year-old boy in East Devon.

The teenager was walking along Valley View, in Seaton, when he was approached from behind by a man who grabbed him by the jumper and tried to snatch his iPhone.

The phone fell to the ground and was badly damaged.

The suspect left empty-handed, towards the fire station.

The schoolboy was left shaken by the incident which happened at about 5.35pm on January 3.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward and contact them on the non-emergency number, 101.
