Autumn trail enjoys a new lease of life under Plympton Hash Harriers
A PLYMOUTH running club who breathed new life into a race have had their best year so far.
The Plympton Hash House Harriers' resurrected the autumn trail, originally run by sports shop boss Frank Elford, three years ago.
Race director Paula Cooper said the event had attracted the biggest number of runners since the club took it over.
She said: "With the main race and the fun-run, we must have had something like 330 runners.

"That is definitely up on previous years, which is very pleasing."
The race, won by city athlete Tom Lapthorn in 53:06, who is a member of Plymouth Harriers, saw competitors take on an eight-mile trek at Newnham Park.
The course saw runners run across fields, through streams and up hills.
Newnham Park is regularly used for major mountain bike competitions.
Cooper admitted: "There was rather a hilly bit, where runners had to zig-zag up it.
"We had several river crossings and mud to go through, but I think that's why the race is popular."
Cash raised from the event, an amount which is still being calculated, will be donated to Devon Air Ambulance.
The club decided to run the event in memory of member Alan Pay, who died shortly before the Harriers took the autumn trail over.
