“@DaveDave2. Appreciably, the article does not read well. However, the use of the word 'collide' within the article is used correctly. Please refer to OED, "hit by accident when moving" or Collins, "crash together with a violent impact". Therefore, it is unlikely that you "hit" your bed, it is more likely that you lay on your bed, unless you are using the colloquialism of 'hitting the hay', and that, due to your literacy, seems unlikely.
I hope the child recovers from her injuries quickly, and my thoughts are with her and her family at this difficult time.”

“Hello - I seem to have upset the regulars...

My disparaging comment was clearly aimed at the quality of written English used to report the story. However, if it also annoys the self-righteous and self-appointed 'Guardians of the Comments Page' that can only be a good thing. This website is rapidly descending into an illiterate mess, and if people are content with news being written so badly as to actually twist the events then I reckon they can also put up with a smart-a*se pointing this out.

Do write back - I will check for pitchforks and flaming torches tomorrow, but for now, my bed is going to have to hit me.”

    “Shocking story...

When I read the headline, I dropped my pint and the floor collided with it. It's good to keep up to date with what's going on, and the Herald journalists hit the hammer with the nail-head every time. They really have their ball on the eye.”
