Barn fire closes section of A376 at Clyst St George
Police closed a road in Exton following a large barn fire this afternoon.
Officers were called to the scene by fire control at 2:10pm today.
Traffic on the A376 was diverted at Clyst St George, say police.
The fire service reported a barn containing vehicles caught light on Exmouth Road in Exton at 2pm.
Three fire engines, two from Topsham and one from Middlemoor, and 20 firefighters were on the scene, along with a water carrier.
One main jet, one hose reel jet, and breathing apparatus was used to extinguish the blaze.
The barn, which measures 15 metres by 10 metres, is used to store vehicles.
Firefighters began tackling the fire using four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and two main jets.
A hydrant is being used for water supply and a tirfor winch is also in use.
A bobcat digger from the Urban Search and Rescue Team is now in use to assist with the removal of straw from the barn.
There are no reported injuries.
A police spokesman said: "We were called to the scene to manage traffic and put up road closures after reports of quite a large fire."
There were long traffic delays in both directions.
