DAVID COOKE has resigned as the football secretary at Barnstaple Town.
Cooke has played a prominent role in the running of the club for more than 20 years.
In January 2012, he became acting chairman when Steve James stepped down.
Cooke worked hard to keep the club running through difficult times until Warren Crossley arrived as the new chairman in November.

A statement released by Barnstaple today said: "The chairman and committee of Barnstaple Town Football Club announce, with regret, the resignation of David Cooke as football secretary with immediate effect.
"David has been a loyal supporter of the club for many years and is the longest-serving football secretary in the Western League, having fulfilled this role for over 21 years.
"He also took up the position of acting chairman last year to hold the club together until the public meeting held in October 2012.
"As a result of that meeting a new chairman, Warren Crossley, was appointed and a new optimistic era began at Barnstaple Town.
"More recently David also stepped down as club treasurer to concentrate on his main role as football secretary.
"The football club would like to take this opportunity to thank David for his sterling efforts over the past years and wish him well for the future. "The club will miss David's skills and enthusiasm and his comprehensive knowledge of the game, the players and all the teams involved in the Western League.
"However, we hope he will continue to support the team and look forward to seeing him at future matches."
