But Bideford, with Truro City striker Andy Watkins in their line-up, responded positively. Watkins set up Downing to pull one back after ten minutes and was involved again as Squire buried the equaliser 13 minutes into the second half.

Bideford looked the most likely side to get a winner but Downing, after cutting through the defence, was denied by goalkeeper Lewis Solly and Watkins was off target from the rebound.

The point leaves Bideford in the bottom two in the premier division while Stourbridge are third.

In the Toolstation Western League, Ilfracombe Town were beaten 4-2 at Longwell Green Sports despite taking a 2-0 lead with goals from Ross Middleton and Ryan Turner. Barnstaple Town lost 3-0 at home to Cadbury Heath.
