In recent seasons, Sean Joyce, the Bideford manager, has used the competition to look at triallists and give fringe players a game.

But with the Robins edging clear from relegation worries in the Evo-Stik League Southern premier division, the competition may assume greater importance.

"We might target it and try to win it," said Joyce.

"We'll have to assess where we are at the time and if we are safe.

"The first priority is to stay in the league this year and I don't want to take my eye off that."

Bideford last won the cup in 2010, the same season they were promoted as champions of the Toolstation Western League. Darren Hawkings and Matt Andrew scored in a 2-1 win over Exeter City at Willand.

This season, Biddy had to fight back from 3-1 down for a 4-3 win over Elburton Villa in the second round with goals from Andrew, Sean Downing (two) and Richard Groves.

Bideford and Plymouth Parkway met in the Devon St Luke's Cup last season, Jamie Mudge scoring for the Robins in a 1-1 draw before they went through 4-3 in a penalty shootout.

The winners of the quarter-final will meet Torquay United in the last four.

In the other semi-final, Plymouth Argyle, who beat Witheridge 7-2 on Tuesday, will play the winners of Tiverton Town and Exeter City.
