Big Band makes Tiverton return
AN afternoon of entertainment will be held in Tiverton when a 17-piece ensemble returns to the New Hall on Sunday, December 9.
AJ's Big Band plays across the Westcountry and features a number of people from the district – including singer Paula Mitchell from Tiverton and Jeremy Loysen, a trombonist from Crediton.
Paula Mitchell's singing career spans 28 years. Since performing in cabaret with her mother in the 1980s she has worked in numerous film and TV productions, also as a voice over and with her own band Pure Crystal, which also includes her husband Colin, who is AJ's pianist.
She moved to Devon from Scotland six years ago and became head of artistes development at Mama Stone's Academy, Exeter.

She has recorded backing vocals on Joss Stone's Colour Me Free.
Managing director Ken Parr, a saxophonist with the band, said: "We are so lucky that Paula is now an integral part of the band. Her presence lights up the stage and the band really swings when she is out front."
