The Cornish All Blacks can begin putting a difficult few months behind them when their National League One season gets underway at Rosslyn Park tomorrow (2.30pm).

The Launceston club were given a 20-point league deduction by the RFU for going into voluntary liquidation last month.

However, director of rugby Simon Owens is keen for his side to focus their energy on the positives after a period of uncertainty.

He said: "Our captain Tom Rawlings summed it up when he said we just have to work hard and get on with it – there's no point in moaning about it. We just have to front up now and look forward to the season.

"We'll target as many points as we can in September to claw those deducted points back.

"It's going to be tough up at Rosslyn Park – they are a newly-promoted side, but they have made some good acquisitions over the summer to strengthen their squad. It's going to be a long, hard season and 20 points is not a huge mountain to climb – it's a set-back but we're confident in the way that we're going play."

The All Blacks got a morale-boosting win under their belts in their final pre-season friendly against Exmouth last weekend. That 36-13 victory against former director of rugby Jon Hill's new side saw the Cornishmen produce a markedly better performance than during their 22-15 loss to Newport the previous week.

Owens said: "The Exmouth game was a good turning point for us, we got into our game – it was a much-improved performance from the game against Newport. But they finished third in the Welsh Premiership last season so there's no disgrace in losing to them by seven points."

Owens also has half an eye on a home Cornish derby against Redruth at Polson Bridge the following week. He said: "We've also got a Cornish derby and we'll need as many of the Launceston faithful down at Polson Bridge as possible.

"We're not trying to think two games ahead but it will be our first home fixture, it will be the first chance for the supporters to see us after the outcome from recent events. We're just hoping we get as much support as possible and cap it off with a home derby win."

Cornish All Blacks: Roberts; Bright, Westren, Nonu, Turner; Perry, Webb; Bayliss, Semmens, Andrew; Hilton, Jenkins; T Rawlings (capt), M Rawlings, Lord. Replacements (from): Lewsey, Mathias, Hurdwell, Salter, Flemming, Murphy, Lewitt.
