Fire Brigade Union confirms strike action will take place in North Devon
FIREFIGHTERS from stations across North Devon will be taking part in a strike next week.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union have announced the strike will take place on Wednesday, September 25 between 12pm and 4pm.
The strike is primarily in response to pension reforms, meaning thousands of firefighters could be sacked due to their age, say the FBU.
Local FBU chairman Bob Walker said: "The important thing is to get the message out about the nuts and bolts of what these strikes are in relation to," he said.

The fire service have reminded people to take extra care during periods of industrial action as crews may not be able to respond to incidents as quickly as usual.
Chief fire officer, Lee Howell, said: "Like all other Fire and Rescue Services, we have contingency plans prepared and will now put these arrangements in place ahead of the first strike.
"We will continue to respond to 999 calls and will do everything we can to keep the public safe, including during any national fire strike."
