Linda decided to join the friends on the spot along with her husband.

She moved to Brixham in August from Yorkshire and was delighted to discover this warm and safe place to swim, using it daily and making many new friends.

She said: "Coming from inland, we were delighted to find the outdoor pool, such a rarity today.

"We cannot let the council close or change it; it must be a great draw for visitors.

"We loved it when we came down here, that's why we came on holiday and finally moved."

As part of the fight to keep the pool open, the friends are trying to raise cash to seek charitable status so they can tap into various funding channels.

As such, they are selling limited edition calendars based on the history of Shoalstone pool thanks to the James family collection.

Some 200 have been printed and already half of them have been sold.

The calendars will be on sale at their stall at Brixham Town Christmas Fair this weekend and at Brixham Library.
