Buckle grateful to two bosses who have gone all the way
THEY MAY be among the biggest names in the game, but Harry Redknapp and Neil Warnock haven't forgotten where and how they cut their teeth in management.
Following on his recent day out with Manchester United, Gulls boss Paul Buckle spent two days earlier this week with Queen's Park Rangers and Tottenham Hotspur.
He watched training sessions at both clubs, and then a private practice match between the two at Spurs' Cheshunt training ground.
Buckle reported: "I was standing behind one goal at the training game, and Harry Redknapp walked over, shook my hand and said: "Bad luck about the result at Southend.
"He asked me about the game, told me he'd been there loads of times in his career and gave me one or two bits of advice.
"He still follows the lower divisions closely."
Buckle added: "Neil is exactly the same.
"He's been a big help to me already, and he's always ready to give Torquay United a hand if he can.
"Neil and Harry have worked their way up to the top of their trade, but they haven't forgotten what it's like to manage in the lower divisions."
Redknapp launched his managerial career at Bournemouth in the 1980s, before moving on to West Ham, Portsmouth twice, Southampton and Spurs.
Warnock, who famously saved Torquay from League relegation in 1993, has a long 'CV' which includes Burton, Scarborough, Notts County, the Gulls, Huddersfield, Plymouth, Oldham, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and now QPR.
