Builder fined for displaying misleading ad on his van
A builder has been fined after he was caught misleading people about his credentials.
GMC Windows and Conservatories boss Grant McKinley displayed a trade association’s logo on the side of his van despite not being signed up to it.
He admitted four offences under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 when he was hauled before Bodmin magistrates.
The case against Mr McKinley, from St Ann’s Chapel near Gunnislake, was brought by Cornwall Council Trading Standards.

The court heard how he had displayed the industry standard Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme (FENSA) logo despite not being a member of the scheme.
Mr McKinley had refused written and verbal advice and warnings, the court heard.
He was fined a total of £530 and told to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and £500 towards costs.
