Burglar stole landlady's cash for community charity

THE landlady of a popular city pub was targeted by a crook who broke into her flat and stole money intended for the community, say police.

Officers are appealing for information after a burglar broke into the private upstairs flat of the Jolly Miller, in Estover, and took £140 in cash.

The incident happened sometime after 1.30pm on Sunday, December 23.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The offender entered the private upstairs flat of the landlady and following a search stole approximately £140 in cash.

"This money was due to be given to the local community via the neighbouring church.

"The landlady is naturally very upset following this incident."
