Bristol goalkeeper on emergency loan to Torquay united
TORQUAY UNITED have lined up Bristol City goalkeeper Steve Collis as an emergency loan signing to play in Saturday's League Two finale against champions Notts County at Plainmoor.
Collis, 29, was due to train with the Gulls today after agreeing to act as a replacement for injured Gulls duo Michael Poke and Scott Bevan.
"Steve was very up for coming and playing for us," said United manager Paul Buckle, who added that the move had been cleared by the Robins' new managerial team of Steve Coppell and Keith Millen.
"Steve has loads of experience, and I'm pleased to have got him."
Collis, 6ft 1in tall, spent five years (2001-2006) with Yeovil, during the Glovers' memorable charge from the Conference into League One.
He's since played for Southend and Crewe, before returning to the Westcountry in a recent short-contract January move to Ashton Gate as cover for Dean Gerken and Stephen Henderson.
United have gone for Collis, because injuries to Poke (groin) and Bevan (thigh) leave them without a fit senior goalkeeper.
