Crediton flat used by cocaine smugglers
A FLAT in a quiet Mid Devon road became the centre of operations for a gang smuggling thousands of pounds worth of hard drugs into Britain, Exeter Crown Court has been told.
Philip Warton was paid to allow drugs mules to stay at his Crediton home until they were ready to pass on their illegal cargoes for sale.
He was caught when a courier was arrested with 50 wraps of cocaine and heroin in his body – a consignment which could have killed him if the flimsy plastic coatings had broken.
Warton, 33, of Park Road, admitted conspiracy to supply drugs and was jailed for three years by Judge Phillip Wassall on Thursday.

The judge told Warton and the gang: "You were all involved in a series of ongoing offences of supplying controlled drugs to the South West.
"Others recruited you and Warton allowed his flat to be used as a hub at which drugs were received and distributed and cash sent back to London as an organised conspiracy."
