Car fire on A38 at Marsh Mills
A car was severely damaged after it caught alight on the A38 this afternoon.
Fire crews from Plymton and Crownhill were called to reports of a vehicle fire on the A38 between Marsh Mills and Deeplane at around 4.50pm.

Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used one hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze.
The car was severely damaged by fire.

Traffic was heavy in the area while emergency services dealt with the incident.
No injuries were reported.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire was accidental.

“Why was it necessary to take out the vehicle with a ladder on top and a big lift thing on the back? Surely a car fire is unlikely to involve anyone needed to be rescued from a great height? What if there had been a report of a poor little kitten stuck up a tree whilst the firefighters were dealing with this incident?”
