A driver has escaped serious injury after coming off the M5 near Exeter.

A silver Peugeot 206 left the carriageway one-and-a-half miles away from the Cullompton junction at 12.20pm.

Police say the car hit a tree and ended up beside the M5 on the banking.

An ambulance attended and treated the driver who was suffering from shock and suspected whiplash.
