MARTIN LING: Carl's departure leaves unanswered questions
MANY people may have been a bit surprised at Carl Fletcher's departure from the manager's job at our Devon neighbours Plymouth Argyle, after all he and the club have been through over the last year or so.
There didn't seem to be any hint of a split when we drew at Home Park on Boxing Day.
Of course, I wish the new manager John Sheridan all the best of luck there, especially as we've already played them twice.
But what does intrigue me is what Argyle may do with their backroom team below John.

We have two players at Plainmoor, Ian Morris and Aaron Downes, who both worked under John Sheridan at his previous club Chesterfield.
They were saying, and I think they're right, that John has worked in the past at different clubs with a coaching team that included Tommy Wright, goalkeeping coach Mark Crossley and fitness coach Shane Nicholson.
They are all still at Chesterfield, working under the new manager there, Paul Cook.
There was a time when new managers at football clubs often meant a complete clear-out of the coaching staff.
It was expensive, and it could also be pretty brutal, not to say unfair.
Many good coaches have been ditched over the years when there was no real justification for it.
But finances have dictated that many clubs are not in a position to dispense with people as they used to do.
It's obviously cheaper to get rid of one person than four.
Paul Cook has gone into Chesterfield, and he's working with John Sheridan's backroom staff, who I don't think he would have known before.
But even if there isn't an immediate clear-out following a change of manager, there are sometimes changes over time, and I'll be interested to see if that sort of thing eventually happens at Argyle.
The stakes are high, of course, at a club which is fighting for League survival.
