Caroline Chugg is the Soroptimists' new regional president for the South West and Channel Islands
CAROLINE Chugg of Braunton is the Soroptimists' new regional president for the South West and Channel Islands.
She took over the role at the conference for Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland, in Belfast.

Soroptimist International is a worldwide service organisation for women which aims to help women and girls achieve their individual and collective potential, realise their aspirations and have an equal voice. It also has consultative status with the United Nations.
Caroline's theme for the year is to make members aware of the ongoing struggle experienced by carers and the way the Soroptimists can get involved.

She said: "Along with adult health and other issues, I hope to generate action so that we can improve the services available throughout the South West. As a county councillor for Braunton Rural, and having sat on the overview and scrutiny committee, I have been involved in task groups researching how carers and adult health is dealt with and have put forward recommendations for improvements."
She said she would also like to tackle the issue of trip hazards and the number of falls suffered by the elderly.
