THE following cases have been dealt with by Plymouth magistrates.

MARK ANDERSON, aged 48, of Flora Court, Plymouth: breaching a restraining order by sending text messages, and resentenced for a similar offence after breaching a suspended prison term – jailed for 27 weeks.

JOSHUA PICKERING, aged 20, of Holmes Avenue, Efford: threatening behaviour – 16 weeks in a young offender institution.

KATIE FRASER, aged 39, of Newbridge, Gunnislake: assaulting a woman by beating her – fined £120, ordered to pay £60 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

SCOTT KEEGAN, aged 39, of Vaagso Close, Plymouth: assaulting a woman by beating her and criminal damage to a mobile phone – two-year community order under probation supervision with Building Better Relationships programme, ordered to pay £50 compensation, £60 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

MARIUSZ SZCZEREK, aged 31, of Headland Park, Plymouth: harassment of a woman by numerous threatening and abusive phone calls and text messages – jailed for eight weeks.

ANTHONY TURNER, aged 39, of Uxbridge Drive, Plymouth: assaulting a woman by beating her – 12-month community order under probation supervision and ordered to pay £150 costs.

NATHAN VELLA, aged 33, of Sydney Street, Plymouth: two counts of breaching a non-molestation order – community order with probation supervision for nine months and ordered to pay £85 costs.

    “You guys say what you want, what I will add is that in any event the justice system works. Look at Nelson Mandela, 30 years hard labour and since being set free, he's never set a foot wrong - sorted. As for hitting women, shouldn't be done.
