Torbay Polish cab driver Marek Wojciechowski, 26 and a father-of-two, also died in the collision.
Trustees of a fund established to raise money to help the families involved have been collecting at Torquay's Sainsbury's store at The Willows, with a further collection being organised at Torquay's Asda supermarket and B&Q.
A further collection will be organised on the car park of the B&Q store later this month.
Trustee Susie Colley said money had been given to the family of the Irish couple to help with their travel costs.
Mrs Colley said an equal amount of money had been given to the family of the Polish taxi driver to help with similar needs.
She added: "Both families will get the same amount of money. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of people in such austere times."
