Cat is rescued after five days stuck up a tree
A cat has finally been reunited with its owner after spending five days stuck in a tree in Devon.
It took fire crews five days and repeated attempts to coax five-year-old Narla from the 65ft tree, after she repeatedly refused to budge from the branches.
The RSPCA were also called out to help with the operation, in the Keyham area of Plymouth.
There was even the possibility of having to call on a tree surgeon to cut down some of the branches, giving fire crews better access to retrieve the stricken cat. But the stand-off finally ended on Saturday when firefighters returned and found Narla asleep on a blanket they had placed lower down in the tree.

Watch Manager Nigel Toms, who was in charge of the rescue, said: “Narla was in perfect condition, she was lively and seemed to have no ill effects from her little escapade in the tree. Our cunning plan came into fruition.
“We are just hoping she didn’t enjoy herself so much that she decides to go back!”
Narla’s owner Tracey Bull said: “She doesn’t look too worse for wear. She’s getting lots of fuss now she’s back home and has been fast asleep on the bed since she returned. I am so thankful to the firemen – they were brilliant.”
