Caught in the berry act

GOTCHA! This is the moment an opportunist blackbird was caught in the act of gobbling its lunch on my best berried shrub. The fruits of this pyracantha Orange Glow were obviously worth savouring as birdie stayed atop the bush until I had grabbed the camera and snapped a couple of shots. Curiously, despite its ultra-vivid appeal, my pyracantha stays nicely berried until well into winter. Which keeps me happy, of course, though if any feathered guests decide on an earlier raid – like Mr Blackbird – then they are welcome to enjoy their berry bounty.
