In today’s housing market, new-build homes offer a host of benefits to first-time buyers and homeowners that re-sale properties don’t. They are a blank canvas to make your own and most come with a ten-year warranty, so you’re covered if things go wrong. And thanks to modern building standards, rising energy prices are much less of a problem because the homes are very well-insulated and are fitted with the latest energy-efficient appliances.

Cavanna Homes was founded in 1923, so it has a wealth of experience and is one of the best-known regional housebuilders in the South West,” says Keith Osborne, editor of new homes portal whathouse.co.uk. “Homebuyers in Devon will find the company currently offers a great selection of property types in some popular destinations around the county.”

In the north of the county, on the outskirts of Bideford, many of the apartments and houses for sale at The Salterns have already been snapped up. Cavanna has reduced the prices of some of the few remaining properties to make them even more appealing. The unusual ‘Tresilian’ three-bedroom detached home has been reduced from £279,995 to £249,995. It has an integral double garage, utility room, garden room, kitchen/diner, living room and an en suite to the master bedroom.

Three of the two-bedroom apartments have also seen price reductions: two ‘Fistral’ homes have been reduced by £4,000 and one ‘Filey’ by £5,000, and all are now priced at £114,995. All of them feature an open-plan living area and come with allocated parking.

On the opposite coast, in Seaton, is Pebblestone, a collection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. There is a show home open on site for prospective buyers to check out. The four-bedroom ‘Pickering’ home is a lovely family home with an attached single garage, priced at £339,995. The living room has a feature bay window and opens into a dining room that has access to the rear garden. The kitchen has a separate utility room to help de-clutter the food preparation area and there’s also a study at the front of the house. Upstairs, two of the four bedrooms have the luxury of their en suite shower rooms, and there’s a family bathroom too.

In another popular seaside town, Torquay, sales have progressed well on the final phase of evolve. There are a number of apartments available, from as little as £95,000. There’s also a three-bedroom townhouse with garage, that is ready to move into. The price has been reduced to just £180,000. There’s a study and cloakroom on the ground floor, together with a kitchen/dining room that leads to the rear garden. On the first floor is a living room and the master bedroom, with en suite. The bathroom and two more bedrooms are on the top floor.
