PLANS to build a children's centre in Witheridge have been recommended for approval by North Devon Council planning officers.

The application for a single-storey building was submitted by Devon County Council on May 13.

Plans to build the centre on site at Witheridge Church of England Primary School are part of the Sure Start programme which aims to provide family support, information and health services to all parents and carers by 2011.

A decision is due to be reached by Devon County Council's planning department by Tuesday, July 6.

If approved building could start in August with completion estimated for October.
