Chalet man sustains severe burns in blaze

A man suffered severe burns in an overnight chalet fire in East Devon.

The man, who lived in the chalet, managed to get livestock out of a stable before he was taken to hospital in the early hours of yesterday.

The alarm was raised at Town's End Farm in Ideford, near Chudleigh at around 4.20am. Four fire crews, from Newton Abbot, Torquay, Teignmouth and Totnes, were called to the blaze.

The fire, described as "severe" by firefighters, also spread to outbuildings and nearby cars.
