Charity should begin at home for the UK
THERE is no doubt in my mind, and I do not wish to be pessimistic in any way, but I cannot help feeling that many of the charities will lose out due to all the cuts imposed by the Government.
It is a big dilemma and hard situation to find the balance of what we expect will only, probably, get worse.
People do so much good for charities, and even those who cannot afford to give dig deep in an effort to be fair to those in need.
Mr B J Connell mentioned a good point recently in a letter to 'Your Say: Why do we give money to other nations when we need this money for our own country? We are no longer a superpower and this is projected even in the United States. If they sneeze in the US, we catch a cold. We need to give something to our charities, but I do wish we would not give our taxes to countries who are not poor.

We pay our dues in this world, but I'd rather see cuts to be centred on what we give away to other countries. Popularity cannot be afforded now under present-day circumstances. Our charities are the people we should support, as I do personally where possible.
