Jamie Chestney yesterday failed to reach the knock-out stages of the men’s singles at the World Outdoor Championships in Adelaide, while his Torquay Kings club-mate and girlfriend Natalie Melmore crashed out of the women’s triples.

Chestney lost to Australia’s Leif Selby in his last group game to go out.

Spain denied Jamie-Lea Winch, former Kings player Sian Gordon and Melmore, who launches her bid for the women’s singles title today.
