Clinic marks 25 years of helping injured athletes
A MID Devon clinic which has treated hundreds of patients is celebrating 25 years in business.
Tiverton Physiotherapy Clinic, Castle Street, opened in 1988 and quickly became in demand from injured players from the rugby club.
This led to Fiona Gerity from the clinic becoming the club physio – a role which she occupied for 21 years until retiring at the end of last season.
However, the link with Tiverton Rugby Club has continued with Sam Mildren who runs Exe Valley Osteopathy from the same building taking over the role.

Fiona said: "I was sad to say goodbye but I still go back to the club regularly but now as a spectator. I was with the team when they won the Devon Cup 15 years ago and it was great to be involved as Tiverton is very much known as a local club, and one that recruits lots of players from the local community."
Sam grew up in Tiverton and said he was very excited to be taken over from Fiona.
He said: "It has been great, the team has made a fantastic start to the season and we always seem to get fewer injuries when the team are winning."
Sam is also working with Heathcoat Cricket Club and is pleased to be part of the set up that gained promotion this season.
Fiona moved to Devon from Teeside in 1979 and said she loved living in the county.
Though she has stepped down from working with the rugby club, Fiona said she wanted clients to know she was "not going anywhere" and planned to carry on the physiotherapy business for many more years.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has continued to support the business over the years," said Fiona.
Conditions which Tiverton Physiotherapy Clinic can treat include: sports injuries, neurological issues, back and neck pain, pregnancy-related issues and stroke rehabilitation.
Fiona said over the last quarter of a century, the physiotherapy clinic had formed strong links with local GPs and consultants who provided referrals. She also attended seminars and training sessions regularly, to keep up to date with current medical practice.
Although based in 36 Castle Street, together with Tiverton Physiotherapy Clinic, Exe Valley Osteopathy is a separate business set up by Sam Midlren and Lauren Goodlad, who have a close working relationship with Fiona.
