Club's tribute to tragic postie
TIVERTON Town Football Club has paid tribute to postman John Bircham who collapsed and died during his Exmoor round earlier this month.
John was centre-forward in the Yellows' successful youth side at the beginning of the 1970s.
John went on to play much of his senior football with Dulverton Town Football Club for many years but always retained a keen interest in the progress of Tiverton.
John also gave much of his time to Twyford Spartans, as his sons Wayne and Jamie followed him into the local football scene.

In a statement on Tiverton's website, John was described as an "all-action, hard-as-nails" striker who played for the youth side in 1970-71.
The statement continued: "The postponed games, frustrations of cancelled training sessions in recent weeks seem of little significance when something like this happens."
