Coastguard car sinks into sand at Crow Point near Braunton
A 4x4 Coastguard vehicle had to be dug out of soft sand after sinking at Crow Point near Braunton.
Journal reader Chris Rowman sent in these pictures of coastguard crew members shovelling sand around the vehicle to free it yesterday.

Coastguard spokesman Marc Lancey said: "It got stuck in the sand while out on a routine patrol. It was reported to us via a 999 call from
a member of the public which was quite embarrassing.

"Crow Point is a notorious area for this sort of thing. Because it's so close to the estuary the mud and sand mixes into one and it's very hard to see which is which. Members of the crew dug the vehicle out of the soft sand and drove it out to safety."

“Oh dear,how embarrassing,although in their defense this area of sand is not usually that sinky compared to the other side of Crow which has taken a few vehicles over the years.”
