Coffee morning to raise Bible cash for Plympton schoolchildren
CHURCHGOERS are encouraging Plympton residents to attend a coffee morning.
The event will be held in St Mary's Church Hall to raise money for children at Plympton St Mary C of E Infant School.
Locals are hoping to raise enough money to provide a Holy Bible for every pupil.
Churchgoer Marguerite Coaker said: "I don't think an awful lot of children have a Holy Bible so we'd like to buy them one. The ones we get are easy for the children to handle and there are plenty of pictures."

“I wouldn't worry. Bibles were always handed out when I was at school and I can't remember anybody ever reading them. Only CharlieBob's would be dust-free.”

“There are many worthwhile causes which could be benefiting from this event, instead of spreading propaganda to indoctrinate susceptible young minds. If St Mary's church really wants every pupil - regardless of parental wishes - to have a bible thrust into their hands, I'm sure the congregation of Plympton St Mary's is well able to stump up the cash from their own pockets.”
