College in Plymouth awarded a national quality standard
A COLLEGE has been awarded a national quality standard for learning and work.
City College Plymouth has been awarded the Matrix Standard – a national quality standard for any organisation that delivers information, advice and guidance on learning and work.
The Standard looked at all aspects of information and guidance provided by the college, including promotion of the service, the quality of information and guidance provided to the customer, relevance of information and that support is given to individuals in exploring their options and planning for the future.
Additionally, the college has to ensure that all staff working in that field are suitably qualified and supported to complete their roles effectively and feedback is collected from students on the services provided and it is used to improve services.

The Matrix Assessor spent four days with the college looking at the information and guidance provided by three areas – the enterprise and employability careers/IAG Service located at both Kings Road and Goschen, Plymouth Advice Centre for Employment on Union Street and Work-based Learning and School Partnerships at Picquet Barracks.
Matrix Assessor, Jennie Dunse, said: "The college has a clear commitment to achieving the best outcomes for its students through delivering impartial information, advice and guidance.
"The college is continuing to invest in enterprise, employability and partnerships, which are central to all three departments, as it recognises the key contribution of these themes in effectively delivering its Strategic Plan for the future."
Head of employability and skills at the college, Teresa Gardner, said: "I am really pleased that the excellent work we do at the college has been formally recognised by the Matrix Standard."
