Concern over increase in Northam Burrows' coastal erosion
A DOG walker from Westward Ho! is calling for more protection to be put in place at Northam Burrows before further erosion takes place.
Jim Hoskings, 64, walks his two dogs on the burrows every day and has noticed how much extra erosion has taken place over the past 12 months.
Mr Hoskings, who is retired, took these photos last week after he had been particularly shocked at the xtent of the erosion.
The site has come under the spotlight in recent months after a former refuse tip, which is buried below the burrows, started to be uncovered by high spring tides.

Some feared an environmental disaster was on the brink of occurring.
Torridge District Council, which is responsible for the burrows, and Devon County Council, which is responsible for the former rubbish dump, organised for extra rock armour to be placed on the edge of the burrows in November.
But Mr Hoskings wants more to be installed.
He said: "The authorities must be mindful of this.
"I think the tip will start to come out from underneath where the sea undermines the sand dunes.
"I know it is an expensive measure to re-charge the pebble ridge regularly but the rock armour which is already there is clearly making a difference so I think the authorities should invest more."

“sadly now with the climate change almost everyone living close to coastal
areas are going the notice more erosion and we must remember nature is ultimatly far more powerfull than anything we could do to stop it. though we will have to learn to live with increased erosion my main concern is with the past stupidity shown by the torridge council whom in their "wisdom" desided to landfill such an area in the first place..rational forward planing !! i think not, just another blinkered irrisponsable product of our local councils”
