Cornish firms reach global award finals
Two Cornish companies are amongst 30 ambitious businesses that have made it through to the next stage of HSBC's Global Connections awards.
Newquay-based Worlds Apart and Saltash-based Spinnaker are through to the Global Connections South West and Wales regional final, which takes place in April 2013, where they will compete against four other companies for two spaces in the national final and the chance to be awarded up to £240,000.
Worlds Apart, based near Newquay Cornwall Airport, designs, develops and manufactures toys and lifestyle products for children. The business has a strategy of continual investment in research and development and aims to ensure that growth is delivered by the introduction of new products and growth in exports.
Spinnaker was founded in 1985 by current chairman John Yandell to produce a robbery deterrent for the cash-in-transit industry and, more recently, ATM machines. The business exports to more than 40 countries.
